Reston, VA — SecureIT and its technology partner Guardium will attend a June 4, 2009 Cyber Security event hosted by the Social Security Administration (SSA), Office of Systems Security and Operations Management. The companies will present solutions and discuss how database activity monitoring (DAM) can improve the overall security posture federal government agencies while reducing the time and costs to comply with FISMA, FISCAM, NIST SP 800-53 security controls, the Privacy Act, and OMB policies such as OMB A-123, A-127 and M-06-16. The team will present real-world case studies of how major government agencies have deployed database activity monitoring in their data centers to support:

  • Combating external threats such as SQL injection
  • Blocking unauthorized access to sensitive data by DBAs and other privileged insiders
  • Application-layer monitoring to identify fraud committed via multi-tier custom applications as well as commercial products from PeopleSoft, Oracle eBusiness Suite and SAP
  • Automated and centralized compliance controls for FISMA, NIST, HIPAA, OMB-06-16, SOX, PCI-DSS
  • Database vulnerability assessment and configuration compliance through NIST, DISA and CIS
  • Detection and reporting of database configuration changes
  • Discovery of sensitive data and means to control, protect and log access to this information
  • Enterprise-wide database audit logging to meet organizational, security and compliance requirements
  • Integration with enterprise security information management
