Taking Pressure Off Staff
As a part of its ongoing effort to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act,
a large financial services client sought to implement a more effective security
structure to protect its data and systems. As a result, the company's information
security department was faced with an overwhelming challenge. While its staff
struggled to interpret the Act and its practical implications, they also needed
to respond to continuous requests and recommendations from the company's external
auditing firm. Meanwhile, the pressure to address day-to-day information security
operations within the firm continued to grow.
When the client called upon SecureIT to assist them with this
task, we moved quickly to identify and plan action steps, thanks in part to our
Sarbanes-Oxley experiences at other large financial services firms. We reviewed
a variety of security standards, made recommendations to strengthen policies
and practices, conducted security training for the decentralized security liaisons,
and helped interpret audit findings to deliver the best solution. Due to the
valuable improvements and solutions that our consultants have delivered, the
client has continued to rely on SecureIT for thought leadership
in the areas of information security and information assurance.
